Catherine Rampell is an American opinion columnist and journalist, one of the youngest syndicated columnists in the United States. Formerly an economics journalist, theater critic, and blogger for The New York Times, she is currently an opinion columnist for The Washington Post and member of The Washington Post Writers Group; she has also worked for The Chronicle of Higher Education during her career. She has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, and is a regular guest on "The Wrap" on NPR's Marketplace.
Rampell grew up in South Florida, and is a 2007 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Princeton University, her parents' alma mater; she is also an alumna of the Talent Identification Program of Duke University, which awarded her its 2016 Heim Alumni Leadership Award. She has received the Weidenbaum Center Award for Evidence-Based Journalism, and was a finalist for the Gerald Loeb Award. She is married. Her brother is Alastair ("Alex") Rampell, a general partner in the venture capital firm, Andreessen Horowitz, (Menlo Park, CA), and founded high tech companies, two of which he has sold.References
