Building Your Resiliency: A Guide to Bouncing Back from Life's Challenges and Taking on the World
Every man wants to know the secret of the man who is able to walk up to any woman and strike up a conversation. Who can saunter into his boss’ office and ask for a raise. Who takes the trip everyone else says is crazy. Their secret is resilience. They’ve got a thick skin; they don’t walk around feeling like the next disappointment might be a fatal blow, a wound to their ego and happiness that will take forever to recover from. They’re not crippled by fear of embarrassment. They know that if they get rejected, if things don’t work out, they’ll hardly miss a beat; they know they won’t shrivel up like a daisy; they’ll simply take the setback in stride and keep on truckin. They don’t shrink from forming relationships in fear of the potential pain of a break-up; they know that pain is a possibility but they are confident in their ability to manage it and move on.Do you want to be a man that lives with gusto, seeing the world as your oyster instead of a minefield? Well, good news: It’s possible for every man to develop iron-clad resiliency. This book shows you how.

The Art of Shaving: Shaving Made Easy - What the man who shaves ought to know.
The Art of Shaving: Shaving Made Easy - What the man who shaves ought to know.
From the Preface... "The object of this little book is to furnish clear and full information about the art of shaving. There are few men who do not experience more or less difficulty in shaving themselves with the straight razor, and many who, after a few unsuccessful attempts, give it up in despair and go to the barber shop. We believe most of these would much prefer to shave themselves if only they could do as well as a barber. The advantages, indeed, seem to be wholly with the man who shaves himself. In the first place the shaving is done in the privacy if his own room. He has his own razor, cup, soap, brush and towels, which can be kept scrupulously clean and sanitary, thus avoiding the constant danger of infection. There is no long wait for the call of "next". After the first cost of the outfit there is nothing to pay, either for services or "tips." Thus in point of time, money and health the man who shaves himself is a decided gainer." These early years of the 21st century have seen a resurgence in the use of the straight razor, the dreaded "cut-throat". Where once lathering up in front of a mirror with a brush of badger was seen as something "old guys do", appreciation of the straight razor shave has come full circle. Almost universally known to give a far better shave than the modern cassette style safety razors, and resharpenable to boot, the straight is seen by many not just as a nostalgic piece of personal grooming equipment, but as an integral part of the daily morning ritual. This book, first penned in 1905 by an unknown writer for an obscure correspondence course company in the United States, has finally found its place. It has found itself to be the Great Manifesto of the Shaving Renaissance. Get back to basics, learn the manly art of shaving.

Manliness
Manliness
This book invites—no, demands—a response from its readers. It is impossible not to be drawn in to the provocative (often contentious) discussion that Harvey Mansfield sets before us. This is the first comprehensive study of manliness, a quality both bad and good, mostly male, often intolerant, irrational, and ambitious. Our “gender-neutral society” does not like it but cannot get rid of it.Drawing from science, literature, and philosophy, Mansfield examines the layers of manliness, from vulgar aggression, to assertive manliness, to manliness as virtue, and to philosophical manliness. He shows that manliness seeks and welcomes drama, prefers times of war, conflict, and risk, and brings change or restores order at crucial moments. Manly men in their assertiveness raise issues, bring them to the fore, and make them public and political—as for example, the manliness of the women’s movement. After a wide-ranging tour from stereotypes to Hemingway and Achilles, to Nietzsche, to feminism, and to Plato, the author returns to today’s problem of “unemployed manliness.” Formulating a reasoned defense of a quality hardly obedient to reason, he urges men, and especially women, to understand and accept manliness, and to give it honest and honorable employment.
