Boeing to upgrade stall prevention on 737 MAX: sources
Boeing in the next 10 days will roll out an upgrade to the MCAS stall prevention system for 737 MAX aircraft that have had two deadly accidents in recent months, two industry sources told AFP. The system was implicated in the crash of a 737 MAX 8 in Indonesia in October but the sources cautioned that the cause of the fatal Ethiopia Airlines accident last weekend has not yet been determined. The software fix, which was already underway prior to the latest incident, will only take about two hours to install, said the sources, who asked not to be identified.

US says 'no basis' to ground Boeing 737 MAX jets after crash
The United States said Tuesday there is 'no basis' to ground Boeing 737 MAX airplanes, after a second deadly crash involving the model in less than five months prompted governments worldwide to ban the aircraft. Despite the aviation giant's assurances that the plane is safe and reliable, the European Union, Britain and India joined China and other countries grounding the plane or banning it from their airspace as they await the results of the investigation into the crash. 'Thus far, our review shows no systemic performance issues and provides no basis to order grounding the aircraft,' Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chief Daniel Elwell said in a statement.

US grounds Boeing 737 MAX amid growing safety concerns
The ban on the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft became worldwide on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump joined Canada and other countries in grounding the aircraft amid intense pressure about the safety concerns. Demands grew for urgent answers over the safety of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 as Ethiopian and US authorities searched for the cause of Sunday's deadly crash near the capital of the African nation, which followed a fatal accident in Indonesia in October. 'We're going to be issuing an emergency order of prohibition to ground all flights of the 737 MAX 8 and the 737 MAX 9  planes,' Trump told reporters at the White House.
