Howto - How To - Illustrated Answers
Fatal Exchange (Fatal Series Book 1)
Fatal Exchange (Fatal Series Book 1)
Critical acclaim for Fatal Exchange: "Gritty." "Edgy." "Shocking." "Intense." "A classic." "Sadistically good."A female NY bike messenger. A rogue nation's scheme to take down the financial system.A serial killer terrorizing Manhattan with his grisly work. When everything Tess Gideon loves is torn from her, she must unravel a deadly mystery if she's to survive. From the sweltering streets of Seoul to the sex-and-drug-driven underbelly of Greenwich Village, a trail of butchery leads inevitably to Wall Street. Can a counter-culture heroine prevail against a ruthless assassination team and an unstoppable killer who's stumped the NYPD? If you love Tom Harris, Michael Connoly, and James Patterson, Fatal Exchange will keep you reading long into the night.Get it now!++++Q & A for Fatal Exchange with bestselling author Russell BlakeQuestion: Fatal Exchange features a female protagonist in a complex conspiracy/intrigue thriller. What was it like writing a female lead character, & why did you do it?Russell Blake: I wanted to create a hero who was complex, troubled, but had tremendous inner strength. I conceptualized that character as female, in the mold of an Angelina Jolie-type kick-ass protagonist, & the image stuck with me. Tess wrote herself, & what I thought would be a challenge turned out to be one of the easiest characters to visualize & feel.Q: Fatal Exchange has two discreet & seemingly separate story lines. Why?RB: I wanted to push the envelope & try something different. I always wanted to do a serial killer plot, a la Tom Harris. In the end, I decided to experiment with two concurrent stories, & see if I could maintain the suspense of both & then dovetail them in the end. I think it worked well; both keep the reader engaged & build plot tension, and they resolve nicely.Q: Fatal Exchange is written differently than most thrillers. Can you comment on that? It seems to speed along at a faster clipRB: Another experiment. I thought it would be interesting to write the literary equivalent of a season of "24" - a series of short, punchy scenes with huge impact ingrained in each. I started the first 50 pages like that & liked the effect, so finished the book that way.Q: Some of the scenes are so graphic as to make one wince. Have you gotten flack for that?RB: I had a few readers say they were cringing, reading between their fingers as they hid their eyes. That tells me I did my job. I think good fiction should take you out of reality, & be so evocative as to put you in the story. I wanted something gritty & visceral & shocking. The scenes are paced for specific effect, & I like how they wound up working. It's a fine line, because what makes one reader uncomfortable will be too tame for the next. But I will warn readers that if they're hoping for some sanitized, anodyne story, they're better served looking elsewhere. This ain't your grandma's thriller...

Currency and Interest Rate Hedging: A User's Guide to Options, Futures, Swaps, and Forward Contracts (New York Institute of Finance, Second Edition)
Currency and Interest Rate Hedging: A User's Guide to Options, Futures, Swaps, and Forward Contracts (New York Institute of Finance, Second Edition)
Dramatic changes in foreign exchange rates between the major international currencies, along with extreme pressures on the European Monetary System, have made the hedging of currency and interest rate exposures more important than ever.In response to those changes, this definitive work on currency and interest rate hedging has been completely revised to provide the most up-to-date currency and interest rate hedging strategies available to today's financial market participant. The book describes and evaluates all of the major market developments that have taken place in the early nineties, including the expansion of futures exchanges in European markets, the introduction of a vast array of new financial futures products, and an expanding product range in the bank-driven OTC market. The book also provides readers with a thorough grounding in the basic components of generic product elements - whether structured on floors, caps, swaps or other types of instruments - in order to better understand all of the possibilities in the hedging market. In addition, you'll find a wealth of useful reference information including definitions, formulae with sample calculations of all the appropriate risk and hedging concepts, and realistic case discussions and sample calculations. The new edition retains the clearly written presentation, abundance of hands-on applications, and wealth of new insights on market instruments that made its previous version a bestseller in its field. It is a significant asset to potential hedgers who must remain current with all of the financial market alternatives, to market practitioners who need to stay abreast of competition from alternative markets, and to students who wish to broaden their understanding of the full financial market picture.
